Travel Brochure
You will be creating a travel brochure for the Orient Express train, following the route you have chosen. This assignment has several stages; complete them thoroughly and in order.

Stage One

  • Using the map found here, select a route from London to EITHER Athens or Istanbul
  • Using appropriate search terms, locate photographs of attractions in each city
  • Select one or two photographs for each city
  • Drill down to get the highest resolution possible and then save a copy of the photo in your "Orient" folder
  • Record the URL of the photograph in an ongoing document titled YLN_orient saved in your "Orient" folder

Stage Two

  • Use GiMP to create a photomontage (or composite) for the brochure that combines the original photo with a photo of you
    • You will need to create layers and learn how to merge two pictures
    • Save each file as a .xcf as well as as a .jpg (the .xcf will save your layers for further editing, but you will need the .jpg to import into your brochure)
  • Each composite should give a professional view of you on the tour provided via the Orient Express
  • N.B. You do not have to use every picture you found; you must have at least one picture for each city on your route but you may find that some pictures you saved do not work well as composites.

Stage Tnree

  • For each city/picture, write a brief (2-5 sentence) paragraph that proclaims the glories of the city, trying to persuade the reader to visit the city via the Orient Express
  • This should be written in your YLN_orient file from Stage One
  • Proofread carefully for spelling and grammar errors.

Stage Four

  • Use a piece of card stock to create a tri-fold or quad-fold dummy brochure
